Get blabbur

For Windows, macOS and Linux. Install it, then join with an invite from your server's owner. Phones are coming soon.

Downloads come straight from the blabbur server at chat.blabbur.io.

Installing

A few clicks, once

Here's what to expect the first time on each platform.

Windows

Run the installer. On a brand-new release, Windows SmartScreen may warn you because it hasn't seen the file often yet: click More info, then Run anyway. The app is signed, so the publisher is shown.

macOS

blabbur isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks before opening it the first time. Right-click (or Control-click) the app and choose Open.

If macOS doesn't offer Open, go to System Settings, then Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway.

Linux

Make the AppImage executable, then run it:

chmod +x blabbur*.AppImage

Or install the .deb from the folder you saved it in:

sudo apt install ./blabbur*.deb

All platforms

That's the only time. After that, blabbur updates itself from your server, and it only accepts updates signed by the blabbur project.

Coming soon

On your phone

The phone apps aren't out yet. When they are, installing them will go like this. Your server's owner will send you the links: a TestFlight link on iPhone, and an invite link that opens blabbur on their server.

iPhone Coming soon

  1. Install TestFlight from the App Store. It's free, and made by Apple.
  2. Open the TestFlight link from your server's owner and tap Accept, then Install.
  3. Open your invite link, and blabbur opens on the invite.
  4. Choose a username and password, and allow notifications.
  5. Updates come through TestFlight. If it says the beta has expired, open TestFlight and tap Update.

Android Coming soon

  1. Open blabbur.io/download on your phone, tap Download for Android, and tap Download anyway if your browser warns you.
  2. Open the file. If asked, allow your browser to install unknown apps: tap Settings, flip the switch, and go back. Tap Install. If Play Protect warns you, tap More details, then Install anyway.
  3. Open your invite link, and blabbur opens on the invite.
  4. Choose a username and password, and allow notifications.
  5. blabbur updates itself. The first time, allow it to install updates.

Installed? Now get an invite.

Ask the friend who runs your blabbur server for an invite, then sign up in the app.
